Here in Prague, we have teams specializing in frontend development (including mobile, TV, and web), backend development (Java), DevOps & Platform Engineering, AWS, and data science.

We manage access to content, the number of devices and streams, and ensure your shows play instantly. We remember where you left off, provide parental controls, and keep your content secure with all the necessary security checks in the background. In short, we take care of all the technical details so you can enjoy a hassle-free streaming experience.
What role will you play?
In this role, you'll be at the forefront of developing and testing cutting-edge Java microservice applications. You'll champion the use of innovative container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, and engage in pair-programming to elevate our code quality. Plus, you'll dive into research and technical initiatives that push the boundaries of our department's capabilities.
Your daily tasks:
- Design, develop, and test new Java microservice applications using container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Build applications that are maintainable and scale predictably.
- Utilise pair-programming regularly to collaborate effectively and improve code quality.
- Mentor junior developers, providing guidance and support in their technical growth.
- Continuously improve yourself through in-house training sessions, including training workshops, proof-of-concept overviews, and talks.
- Maintain and contribute to software delivery principles and guidelines based on internal standards and industry best practices.
- Strive for continuous improvement of systems and development processes.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for our components, ensuring system reliability and issue resolution.
What skills do you need to play your role well?
- Good system development knowledge in building scalable applications within Java.
- Experience working with REST APIs and noSQL databases e.g. Cassandra, AWS Keyspaces.
- Understanding of queueing systems e.g. Kafka, Amazon Kinesis, ActiveMQ.
- Experience with of agile methodologies.
- Knowledge of software engineering concepts e.g. XP, Scrum, Pair Programming, TDD, BDD.
- Familiarity with configuration and build tools such as Jenkins/Github Actions, Gradle/Maven.
- Familiarity with standard monitoring and logging tools including Prometheus and Grafana.
- A willingness to collaborate in a cross-team environment.
- Knowledge of design patterns and SOLID principles.
- Practical experience building and working in a CI/CD environment.
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP, with a willingness to expand expertise in cloud-based solutions.
