We dont just keep the engine runningwe push the tech boundaries of whats possible, alongside teams from Lisbon, London, and New York. Here in Prague, we have teams specializing in frontend development (including mobile, TV, and web), backend development (Java), DevOps & Platform Engineering (Kubernetes, AWS), and data science. What is the plot? 
In the App Hosting team in Prague, you will be part of a larger Developer Platform Engineering department that spans Prague, Lisbon, and London. We develop and provide a platform that empowers development and SRE teams to deploy their applications safely and run them reliably at scale. 
The team in Prague have become experts in the Kubernetes networking, observability, and traffic management space, working with technologies like Cilium, Hubble, and Istio. We are growing the team in Prague to enable us to provide even more capabilities to the Developer Platform. 
The App Hosting team provides the basic cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes components that are required for our compute platform, with networking and traffic management, security, service discovery, and observability. Development teams have a common path to production that allows them to build once, test, and deploy everywhere to build the global streaming platform. 
What role will you play? 
As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will play a big role in advancing new capabilities on the platform as well as enhancing and ensuring the reliability of our existing capabilities. You will work primarily with the team in Prague but also have plenty of interaction with engineers and tech leads in Lisbon and London. 
You will learn from other experienced Platform Engineers, mentor more junior members of the team while designing and developing new features for the platform 
In our team, we take ownership of the capabilities that we deliver to the platform. We care deeply in their success and the value that they bring to the users of the platform. 
Your daily tasks: 

• Ensure that current capabilities are running smoothly

• Identify and fix bugs, if they are not running smoothly

• Project focused work to add or enhance capabilities of the platform (likely related to Cilium, Hubble, Istio technologies, or Networking, Service Mesh, Service Discovery, Traffic Management capabilities more generally)

• Working with Kubernetes intensively

• Development using Golang, Helm, Kustomize

• Documenting capabilities, runbooks, and troubleshooting guides for internal use as well as a reference for users and support teams

 
What skills do you need to play your role well? 

• 
  Kubernetes (CKA or CKAD or CKS, certification is not required, but you should feel comfortable working at this level)

• Good background in software development principles

• Comfortable writing and reading Golang code, preferably your current primary programing language

• Fundamental knowledge of the networking stack, the Kubernetes Networking model, and Unix/Kubernetes specific tools and techniques for debugging or inspecting the network

• Any experience with Cilium, Hubble, or Istio is nice to have

• Good writing skills (especially in English)

• Good communication skills in English, the ability and desire to work as part of a team, and the ability to clearly communicate your ideas and opinions

• A growth mindset, and the ability to take responsibility for your learning and development
